From a young age, Daniel Cagulada, CGA, CPA has been drawn to numbers. As a young adult in the Philippines, he quickly dedicated his life to the inner workings of accounting, earning himself a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Accounting, from the Honors program of Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) — a prestigious university in the Philippines. Eventually, he passed the Certified Public Accountant Board Examinations.

 

As Daniel’s career soared, so did his home base. Early successes led Daniel to Saudi Arabia, where he continued to provide exceptional accounting services as a Chief Accountant to Core Laboratories International, an American oil laboratories, and in Bahrain where he  worked with the government of Bahrain as a Senior Accountant.  In 1998, he leaped into his next, and biggest, career move — settling in Canada. Not a stranger to hard work, Daniel quickly gained the accreditation required to officially practice accounting in Canada, even successfully passing the rigorous Certified General Accountant  (CGA) final professional examinations. He would eventually hold a senior accounting position for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

 

Years later, Daniel resigned from his position with the Municipality only to set foot in the fulfilling realm of public accounting practice offering accounting, auditing, personal and corporate taxation, and consulting services. Daniel continued to pursue further his education and completed his Master of Business  Administration (MBA) with Distinction from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario in 2010. Due to the changing needs of his family,  Daniel moved to Calgary in September 2010 and set up a partnership with Francis de Guzman, CGA, CPA under the name "FLE De Guzman LLP."  A year later, Lalaine de Guzman-Tratner, CGA, CPA and daughter of Francis de Guzman, joined the partnership as a partner. Aside from accounting, auditing, review, taxation and  compilation services, the partnership also offers corporate registry services such as incorporations, dissolutions, annual returns and notarial services.

Today, Daniel’s accounting practice thrives. He continues to dedicate himself to his accounting clients. Those who know and work with Daniel have praised him for his intelligence and determination. His commitment to the craft of accounting and his love for learning is unrivalled because Daniel is not only drawn to numbers, but also, serving others as best as he can.
